NOTE
Bow Lake, Alberta
The lay-by worth leaving time for
Bow Lake deserves more than a quick photograph. Leave time for the changing light, a short walk by the water and an unhurried break before continuing north.

Canada self-drive questions
Before you choose the road
How long should I allow for a Canada road trip?
Canada works at every scale. Choose a city-based day trip or two-night weekender for a short stay, seven to ten days for one region, or two weeks and more for a broader self-drive holiday.
Can I explore Canada while staying in one hotel?
Yes. Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Montréal and Halifax all make useful bases for scenic day drives. Select “Day trip” in the planner to keep each route hotel-friendly.
Should I choose hotels, campsites or both?
Hotels suit city stays, shoulder seasons and shorter breaks; campsites bring you closer to national parks. Many of the best Canada road trips mix the two.
